New Year

Okay, I am just going to say it, I am not into New Year's resolutions. Now that is not to say that in the past I have not written out lengthy resolutions and goals. My problem with making such lists is that I seem to forget about them 2 weeks into January. One thing that I have found to kind of work for me are setting themes for the year. Last year one of my themes was reducing clutter. To reach that goal I did eliminate some things from my home environment. Every time a got a call soliciting clothing and household item donations I did my best to have at least 1 box to donate. This year I am going to continue the theme and amp it up to reduce "things" and save more. I have never really been a saver so that is going to be a tough one for me to achieve.

Cheers to a fabulous new year ahead of us, may it be filled with good health, great friends and lots of cherished memories.

Cozy Morning

I came across this page in one of the latest InStyle magazines and it is my inspiration for my Christmas morning outfit. A warm sweater and cozy boots sure beat pi's and bedhead hair.

The following items have made their way into my closet and I must say, both fit the cozy and warm bill.

This sweater is way cuter in person, trust me.

And you can't go wrong with Uggs when looking for cozy.

Tommy

I have been loving the ads from Tommy Hilfiger as of late. The holiday ones are the best, I am loving all the plaid and fair isle.

Love all the stockings.

This is my favorite, exactly how I would like to wake up on Christmas morning.

Abundance

I came across this list of "10 Steps to Abundance" by Carolyn Blakeslee and thought what appropriate timing. Here's to an abundant Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Make a list of what you desire. List your desires—not wants or needs, which imply lack of, rather than abundance of, something. By saying/thinking/writing, “I desire [this] or something even better now manifesting for the good of all concerned,” you create room for even greater possibilities.

Remember a situation of abundance. If you catch yourself wallowing in a bad memory or engaging in “stinkin’thinkin’,” call up a contrasting memory in which you felt rich, beautiful, accomplished, capable—whatever state of being you desire.

Align with your passions. By taking even a small step toward a passion or goal that nurtures you, you will feel cleaner, clearer and more energetic, thus opening the way for progress. God has a plan for your life and His deep desire for His creation—you—is for you to flourish.

Look forward. List your most cherished dreams and immediate intentions. Better yet, pull pictures from a past happy time and cut out magazine pictures that represent the good things you desire in your future, and then paste them in a journal or on a poster board to refer to during moments of reflection.

Streamline your life continually. Let go of situations and clutter that don’t support your aspirations.

Spend time with positive people. Don’t believe naysayers. You are working to overcome your own limiting beliefs, so why listen to anyone else’s self-limiting negativity? Step away with kindness.

Select news sources carefully and set a time limit. Read only thoughtful, responsible journalism, which doesn’t include most TV news. You’ll avoid wasting time on nasty stories that engender negative feelings and harmful physiological eesponses. You’ll feel better for it.

Have the proverbial “attitude of gratitude.” Count your blessings. Think often of all the good in your life. Say “Thank you,” more than once a day. Contemplate the areas of your life that are working well; take those skills and apply them to what you would like to improve.

Express gratitude. Thank others frequently, with thank-you cards, expressive emails, gestures of encouragement and smiles. People always appreciate kindness and good manners, especially when civility seems in short supply.

Smile! When you answer the phone, put a smile on your face and in your voice. Welcome people into your life, even if it’s just for that moment. Allow them to feel your warmth. When you catch yourself frowning with concentration during a task, pause to lift your brows, pull back your face and smile!

Fit to a T

Finally, my (unbeknown to her) BFF Tory Burch has come out with a line of dog accessories. Don't you agree that my little Lexie needs an orange T adorned collar?

And speaking of accessories, Tory also has come out with a line of iPhone cases. You can bet this one is on my Christmas list (hopefully it will be back in stock soon!).

Grateful for the Weekend

I am fortunate to have the day off today, thanks to our Veterans. My weekend plans include lots of rest and snuggle time with my pups. Wishing you a warm weekend too.

I love the idea of this chunky throw. I will settle with the ever soft one I stumbled upon at Sam's Club last weekend.

Hair Obsession

I think I might have mentioned this subject on here before, but I have an obsession with hair. Some girls look through magazines and drool over the clothes, me, I am a sucker for luscious locks. In fact, I have an entire board on Pinterest dedicated to hair.

This image from one of my favorite sites stopped me in my tracks this morning. How does one get their hair so shiny? My husband would say "Um, try washing your hair more than 3 times a week". Pfft, I loathe washing and styling my hair. BUT if a stylist told me that daily washing was the secret to shiny locks I might change my tune. So if you have any tips on shiny hair, please share!

Finally Fall

After months of consecutive 100+ degree weather I am glad to welcome fall. I look forward to wearing boots, layers, cardigans, you name it!

This past weekend I was inspired to break out the fall decor. Here are some pictures of my dining table in progress, still needs a few more things. I am proud of myself seeing as how I am not that crafty.

Catching Up on My "Stack"

Yes friends, my stack of magazines still lingers. I must admit that I am cutting down on my subscriptions, regardless I still have plenty of good reads. One magazine that continues to surprise me is Better Homes and Gardens. This was the first magazine I think I ever subscribed too, back in college. I could not wait to get out of the dingy college housing we had and into a "home" that I could decorate in my style.

Over the years I subscribed to BHG off and on and more recently only subscribed because I received a killer offer of something like 1 year for $5. I also get all the high end shelter magazines to drool over but as of late, in my opinion, BHG has been on target as far as style goes, less DIY and more designer like features.

Case in point is this home featured in the September issue, designed by Tia Zoldan. Tia, you have a new fan.

I found this picture of the same room from somebody's personal photograph (attending a baby shower in the home). I like to see the difference between real life styling vs. professional styling for photo shoots.

LOVE this kitchen eating nook!

Tia also has a blog and interior design site. Here are a few of my favorite looks from her portfolio.

I love the layers, artwork and non-matchy-matchy look of this room.

LOVE this kitchen that was also featured in one of the High Glass eMags.

How Does She Do It?

Loving this picture, however I must ask myself how she scoots around town on a Vespa in heels and a skirt? When I had my Vespa (sniffle) I had an entire wardrobe dedicated to "scoot wear", clothes that were scooter appropriate. That usually meant cropped pants, embellished t's and fairly appropriate footwear (I might have worn wedges a few times).

Oh and before I forget, check out my new favorite jewelry site, Bauble Bar. Love the wishbone pendant I purchased. The best part is when you create an account with them (for free) you get an instant $10 credit. Enjoy!

Welcome Fall

This lovely image popped up in my inbox the other day from Athleta. Love everything about it, the scarf, the sunnies, the boots, they all say welcome fall.

Hello, Is This Thing On?

Long time no post, I know, tsk tsk. The only excuse I have is that the month of August was a blur and now it seems that September is almost over. One of the highlights of last month was a spur of the moment trip to sunny San Diego with friends, here are just a few of the pictures.

Pretty flamingos at the SD Zoo.

Crazy sea lion, funniest animal at the zoo, I swear.

Me and a goat. I want one.

Me and my fave little girl PK, squinting in the sun.

The whole gang.

Me and the cutest little boy, Bubby, at Sea World.

Looking for sea lions in the Pacific. Breathe taking.

.
Just perfect.
