Time to Say Goodbye

Hi friends, you still out there? Sorry that I have been MIA as of late, just a lot of new things going on and I am still working on finding a good balance of my free time.

Well I have some kind of sad news, I am selling my scooter. About a month ago it hit me that with my new venture in real estate and the fact I have to be presentable at all times in case I need to meet with a client, the scoot doesn't always lend itself to fit my needs. I am not saying I have to wear heels or a skirt every day but let's face it, the windblown look only gets you so far. Plus I feel like I am getting too old for the scoot. I am not saying 35 is old by any means, but one day I was riding to work and passed the middle school kids at the bus stop and I just got this feeling they were laughing at the "old lady on the scooter". I mean really, am I going to be 40 years old and still riding a scooter? I just don't see it. You can feel free to disagree but I just think it is time to say goodbye, it was a great ride.

Monday Dose of Dink

I snapped this picture of Owen yesterday afternoon. Yes he is laying on my William Sonoma Home clad pillow. I guess he is looking out the window or something. Dink.

Have a great Monday friends.

Marie Claire + Michael

A magazine I look forward to receiving each month is Marie Claire. I think their fashion spreads are right on and fairly attainable for the average female. Tim Gunn also has a column that I enjoy - real advice we can use. They also have well written stories, not necessarily fashion related but still current.

This month's cover girl, Katie Holmes, looking gorgeous as ever.

I also loved seeing the retrospective on Michael Kors.

Fall Shopping

I just had to share a few pages from the October People Style Watch magazine with you all. And speaking of magazines, I am slowly getting caught up on my never ending pile so be prepared for a lot of scanned pages!

Really liking some of these nude pieces, although I am not sure the color works well with my skin tone. I am really liking the ruffled shoes.

The J. Crew leather jacket is to die for! Classic style and color as well.

I will take one of each on this page, minus the backpack - this style of bag has never been my thing.

This past Saturday was my friend Shelley's 30th birthday and her husband surprised her with a night out on the town with friends. After a delicious mexican dinner a limo took us dancing, that's right, dancing. Needless to say I am pretty sure a good time was had by all. Here are a few pictures I managed to snap throughout the night. Enjoy!

Happy birthday to my dear friend, love you!

You Knew it was Coming

Yesterday’s fashion week activities included shows from two of my favorite designers, Michael Kors and Tory Burch. We have not even got to fall weather yet here in Oklahoma and here I am already dreaming of spring.

Michael Kors - Liking this look, including the cross body bag.

Michael Kors - Would love to have somewhere to wear this to.

Tory Burch - Loving the bold colors.

Tory Burch - This outfit has my name written all over it.

Tory Burch - A great day to night option.

Tory Burch - Digging the animal print.

Tory Burch - Wedges = Yummies!

Doable Fashion

Unless you have been living in a cave the past few days, you have seen many spreads in the blog world highlighting fashion week. There have been a few designers that caught my eye in particular, due to the fact that I think their styles are actually for the every day woman. Sure we all love drooling over the evening gowns and such, but I like to get an idea of what I can wear.
Jason Wu - Loving the jacket and big flowery bow.
Jason Wu - Trouser pants and sleeveless top, yes please.
Jason Wu - Trouser pants (thank the Lord!) and stripes, perfect combo.
Derek Lam - Can you tell how excited I am that trouser pants are front row again?
Derek Lam - Love the monochromatic look here with the classic trench and turtleneck.

Around the House

Hello, anybody out there? Just checking since I have not been around in a few days. I know I promised you some fashion posts but I just had to share with you a few new things I picked up over the weekend.

First up is the new limited edition Glade PlugIn Scented Oil in Cashmere Woods. I don't normally advocate infusing your home with artificial chemical scents, but when you have a teenage boy at home things can tend to get stinky. I am in love with this scent, seriously. I am going to have to stock up on this next time I go to the store. So if you happen to see it sniff it out and let me know what you think.

The other new addition to my home is a DustBuster. That is right, a DustBuster. Don't get me wrong, I love my Dyson but sometimes I catch a fur ball floating across the floor and the last thing I want to do is drag out the big guns to snatch it up. I have used it a few times so far and it is perfect, just what I was looking for.

So there you have it friends, this is what I have been up to lately. Hope your week is going well and I will be back soon with more yummies.

A New Kind of Southern Style

Yes, another home inspiration post from me. I promise next week will be full of fashion seeing as how New York Fashion Week is upon us.
I discovered Ty Larkins in the December/January 2010 issue of House Beautiful and instantly fell in love with his Louisiana home. Take a look for yourself.
Another view of the living room. I love the floors and the airy decor.
Another shot of the chocolate library, styled just a bit differently. Notice the hanging light fixture.
I like the simply stated dining room.
And this courtyard is to die for.

Heather Christo

I came across another goody in my home inspiration tears that I just had to share. Meet Heather Christo, a graduate from both the University of Washington as a Fine Arts major and the California Culinary Academy, Le Cordon Bleu. With this kind of background Heather is a pro at throwing spectacular cocktail and dinner parties as well as serving as private chef for her Seattle clients. Not only does she have an eye for beautiful decor but also spends time in the kitchen whipping up recipes and posting them on her website.

I absolutely adore her kitchen with the glass black cabinetry, hardwood floors, chandeliers, marble and silver.

Her home office is also very chic.

To see more photos of her home please visit the spread in Traditional Home.

Experiment Wrap Up

I am so glad that my magazine experiment is over, it was harder to tackle than I imagined. Last week I only received two additional subscriptions, Runner's World and Everyday with Rachael Ray. That brings my total subscriptions to 29, which is borderline embarrassing. Granted some of these are about to run out without renewing. The ladies at my husband's work will be excited to get their hands on these!

Dose of Dink

Hello friends! I thought I would have some leisure time over the weekend to catch up on my reading and finding inspiration for posts, however, time with friends and family trumped that plan. I got to spend time with my favorite little girl at a local playground, enjoyed good food, soaked up some sun and even got a pedicure. Life is grand.

My dogs were very spoiled over the weekend and spent little time in their boxes. Case in point, here they are chillaxin on our loveseat.

Hope your week is off to a great start, I will be back soon. In the mean time be sure to stop by Elements of Style for some stunning interior design inspiration. Cheers.

Office Space

I have been trying to gather my home inspiration tears from the various places I have them stashed throughout my home, you know, in case I decide to build a new house sometime in the near future. This spread happens to be one of my favorites for a home office. This is the home of interior designer Julie Neupert Stott in Portland, Oregon. The tear is from an old Renovation Style magazine, I tried searching the web for the article with no luck, so bear with my poor tears and scans.

I love how large a space she has dedicated to her office. The style is classic and can easily be punched up with doses of color. And speaking of color I just die for the jars of colored pencils, markers and rubber bands, so chic. I also like Julie's organization tips, be sure to check them out.
